REQUEST FOR PROPOSALS
for
ADMINISTRATIVE APPEALS HEARING OFFICER
Smithfield City has chosen to create an Administrative Appeals Hearing Officer position pursuant to changes in the municipal land use laws. The Officer will be responsible for hearing appeals of landuse decisions and various requests for variances when such needs present themselves.
Qualifications: Applicants should be familiar with or willing to become familiar with Smithfield’s Land Use Ordinance and the State of Utah’s Land Use Development and Management Act (LUDMA). They should understand basic city planning principals and practices, and how to conduct a judicial review of land use matters.
Smithfield City only receives a limited number of requests for variances or appeals on an annual basis. Compensation is negotiable. The ideal candidate for this position could be either an experience professional planner or an attorney with experience in land use law.
Application: A proposal may be submitted containing information concerning a candidate’s qualifications pertinent to the position. The proposal should also provide information relative to an expected compensation arrangement.
