Try-outs Smithfield Children’s Theatre In conjunction with Health Days Announces: The Pirates of Penzance Sky View Auditorium Saturday May 9th & Monday May 11 - 7:00 P.M. Try out/Sign-ups will be: Who: Children ages 5 to 17 (or still in high school) living in Smithfield What: Come and sign up for a group part, no tryout necessary, or Prepare 16 bars of a song for these solo parts: Mabel, Ruth, Pirate King, Major-General, and the Sergeant of Police. Other speaking parts in the Pirates play have no solos and will just need to read lines to try-out for them. (6 girl and 9 boy speaking parts are available.) We also have a short play honoring our 150 year anniversary. There will be speaking parts for this play also and it will not require any solos. (18 parts available) Where: Old 4th Ward Church house- 179 N. 100 East (east of McDonalds) When: Tuesday & Wednesday March 17th & 18th 5:00- 6:00 P.M. Group Parts (This includes the orchestra) 1) Come and sign up. (No tryout is necessary.) 2) Pick up a copy of the practice times, and costume information. 3) Attend practices according to the practice schedule, learn the songs & dances. Speaking Parts To try out for a speaking part your son or daughter must be at least 10 years old and: 1) First, come and sign up for a group part as listed above. 2) No pre-preparation is necessary, just stay after sign-ups and say a few lines. If a singing solo part is desired - (5 main parts in this play) prepare 16 bars of any song. . 3) Those receiving speaking parts will be called. Parts will be handed out Mon. March 23rd 5:00. 4) If your son or daughter does not receive a call, please join the group part and come as directed on the rehearsal schedule. Costumes Participants will be asked to help sew or provide some costumes. Be prepared to give measurements. Practice information: Practices are only for two weeks. Children wishing to participate must commit to attend all practices!! Rehearsals Monday - Friday April 27th –May 1st Old 4th Ward Church 2nd week Monday -Wednesday May 4th - May 6th Old 4th Ward Church Full Run Through Thursday (ALL) May 7th - 4-6:00pm. Old 4th Ward Church Dress Rehearsal Friday (All) May 8th – 5-9:00pm. Sky View Performances Saturday & Monday May 9th & 11th -7:00 P.M. - Sky View Orchestra practices Mon. & Wed. 4-5:00pm April 22, 27, 29, May 4, 6 - Old 4th Ward Church Parts Available: Ages Practice Times Involvement-all sing finale Speaking parts pirates-10 and older 4:-6:00 P.M. Lines, 6 songs Speaking parts ann. play- 10 and older 4:-5:00 P.M. Lines, finale song only Pirates boys 9 & older 5:00-6:00 P.M. 4 songs with actions & a battle Daughters girls 12 & older 5:00-5:30 P.M. 4 songs & a dance Policemen girls 8-11 5:30-6:00 P.M. 3 songs with actions Little Ruth Pirates girls 5-7 6:00-6:30 P.M. 2 songs and dance Little Pirates boys 5-8 6:00-6:30 P.M. 2 songs with actions Orchestra 2 yrs. experience preferred– strings only 4-5 P.M. Mon. & Wed. Old 4th Ward Parents are needed to help with each group, and to sew costumes.
