Crossing Guards

The Smithfield City Police Department maintains four crosswalks for elementary age students.  These crosswalks are
located at Center & Main, 100 W 100 N, 600 W 100 N, and 455 E 300 S.  These crosswalks service Sunrise, Birch Creek and Summit Elementary schools.  Every morning and afternoon when school is in session, the crossing guards can be seen providing a safe environment for Smithfield's children to cross busy roadways.  Currently, there are eight crossing guards employeed by the department, which includes substitues.  Anybody wishing to become a crossing guard can pick up an application at the department.
