Election Signup Period: Tues, June 1st until 5:00 PM on Mon, June 7th

Smithfield City will hold its Municipal Election this fall to elect a Mayor and two (2) Council Members. 

The Primary Election date is Tuesday, August 10, 2021; if needed.

The General Election will be held on Tuesday, November 2, 2021. 

Mayor and Council Members serve four (4) year terms and are elected at-large. 

The incumbents are:
Mayor: Jeffrey H. Barnes
Council Member: Jamie Anderson
Council Member: Wade Campbell

Those interested in filing for one of these offices must: Be a United States citizen at the time of filing, Be a registered voter of Smithfield City, Be at least 18 years old, Be a resident of Smithfield City for at least 365 days immediately preceding the date of the of the general election, November 2, 2021 and not be a convicted felon.  

Candidate filing period begins on Tuesday, June 1, 2021 and ends on at 5:00 P.M. on Monday, June 7, 2021. 

Each person seeking to become a candidate for a municipal office shall file a Declaration of Candidacy in person with the City Recorder, 96 South Main, Smithfield, Utah, during regular office hours but not later than 5:00 P.M. on Monday, June 7, 2021. The appropriate filing form is available at the City Recorder's Office.  

The election will be done by mail only as per legislation passed by the Utah State Legislature in 2020. There will not be a polling location in the city and in-person voting will not happen in the city for the 2020 Municipal Election.
