Three Things About the City - January 19th

1.    Smithfield was originally known as “Summit Creek” due to its location on the creek but was later named after John Glover Smith.

2.    The Youth Center (Tabernacle) was constructed of approximately 220,000 yellow bricks distinctive to Smithfield. They were manufactured locally by Lars Mouritsen in his clay pit brickyard near the Bear River. Construction spanned approximately 20 years. The building was completed in 1902 at a cost of approximately $77,000.

3.    We as citizens can help the city staff with snow removal to be done more quickly and efficiently by keeping garbage cans and vehicles off of city streets during snowy days. The staff wants to do the best, most efficient job they can for you!
